How Politicians Ignore Economic Reality | Thomas Sowell

The Role of Press, Politicians and Academia. But, if ignorance of the most rudimentary facts is the true culprit, that raises the question, how have the normal channels for educating people about social policy questions failed so completely? One of our pro2 pluses was just turned on for the first time in probably more than a year and the touchscreen is completely non-responsive. Is it possible to get the IP and serial from the machine without using the touchscreen so I can just control it from my computer? Any other workarounds? I tried resetting the machine and power cycling it several times to no avail.

So, I'm looking for a UCL postgrad student to takeover the licence agreement for my room in New Hall. This is an en-suite room, shared kitchen, £213 per week. Just send me a message if you are interested or if you know someone who is. Alternatively, if you know a Facebook group where those kind of things are posted, don't hesitate. I really can't keep that room, so any help would be much appreciated.

2022.01.27 13:45 wordsandmagic My 600$ per month budget in Vietnam

I've lived in Vietnam for quite a while now and I just wanted to make a post to show how it works in other countries.
My rent for a small studio - 6 million vnd ($250)
My electricity bill - 1 million vnd (40$)
Motorbike rent and petrol - 1 million (40$)
Food at home - 2 million vnd (80$)
Street food - 2 million vnd (80$)
Social life - 2 million vnd (80$) - we were lucky here as a beer is 50 cents so a night out is 5 dollars usually.
If anyone has any questions about life their then let me know. I've also lived in Thailand too.
You can get house shares for 150$ a month there and you can not run a bike (but they are essential in the big cities). I could live off 500$ per month if I was more frugal.

2022.01.27 13:45 UnusuallyMysterious Assorted FNAF Theories

So I was re-reading the Silver Eyes Trilogy (The graphic novels, I don't hate myself) and I started thinking more about the implications. I know that they aren't technically canon, but Scott did say they helped piece some parts of the actual story. This got me thinking about other parts of the series as well, and as such I have a few theories I'd like to share here!
1) The glitches tell the true story
Scott, in FNAF VR, made it clear that he made the FNAF games in the FNAF universe as asked of him by Fazbear Entertainment. However, through FNAF VR, we never see any references to Pizzeria Simulator, and that is because Pizzeria Simulator actually happened. The events in FNAF 1-5 were 'inspired' by the real life events occurring at Fazbear locations, as stated in the opening monologue of FNAF VR, and as such we see the characters from those games, but nothing in Pizzeria Simulator carries over into FNAF VR.
I was watching a previous theory of Mat's, where he talked about the glitched in FNAF World and how the corresponded to the previous games. This provided the explanation for the minigames in FNAF 2 and 3, but that's not the only places glitches are seen.
If we look at the games as they are - games as part of the game universe (God this is confusing) it doesn't make sense for Fazbear entertainment to greenlight a game where it shows ghosts enacting their vengeance on a man, who then brutally dies. It doesn't make sense for them to greenlight a game where a child's head gets bit off or a child getting scooped by an animatronic, and it doesn't make sense for them to show things which Scott (In the game universe) would obviously not know.
Looking at this, as well as Glitchtrap, it seems as though the spirits of the dead children are using these games to help whoever we play as understand what happened, not only to them but to him.
The FNAF Logbook shows a conversation going on between two people, writing on the pages. The security guard was the person who owned the book, considering the name 'Mike' is crossed out. Here's the thing though - the name is crossed out by the same pen that whoever owned this book previously was. This seems like speculation until you see that the corrections are written on sticky notes, while the red pen was only used by the Security Guard, a.k.a. Michael Afton.
The children are telling him his name. His story. Where they are and how to free their souls. This is why just doing the minigames gives you the good ending of FNAF 3, because like Glitchtrap, they're tied to electronic pieces.
Another piece of evidence for this theory are the Lore-keeper minigames from PS:

Pizzeria Simulator is not a Five Nights at Freddy's game in the FNAF universe. It is someone bringing the remains (Might I say, remnants) of the murders at the Fazbear restaurants together to bring to a close to their story.
2) The job at Pizzeria Simulator was meant for the Reluctant Follower
Among the many voice lines in PS, there are some contradicting ones from Scrap Baby and Scraptrap. One of Scraptrap's lines is "What a deceptive calling, I knew it was a lie the moment I heard it, obviously, but it was intriguing nonetheless," which implies that he knows that this was a trap. But looking at Scrap Baby's lines during the finale (shown below) implies that she thought this job was put in place by William.
" You played right into our hands. Did you really think that this job just fell out of the sky for you? No. This was a gift, for us. You gathered them all together in one place, just like he asked you to. All of those little souls in one place, just for us. A gift. Now we can do what we were created to do, and be complete! I will make you proud, daddy! Watch, listen, and be full-"
Which begs the question, who was this job actually for? It was likely someone who heard the calling along with the rest of the animatronics, which means it is likely someone affected by the Glitchtrap virus, which is likely Vanessa - the reluctant follower. Henry states that this job wasn't meant for whoever we play as in PS, which means he had someone in mind. Someone who would not only listen to the call but would also be interested in bringing all of the animatronics together. This is also supported by the fact that another one of Scrap Baby's lines is "You're not who I expected to see." She knows about Vanessa and expected to see her, not Michael.

3) There are two Vanessa's, one of them is Baby and the other is the Puppet
This theory is trying to make sense of the ending of Security Breach where there are two Vanessa's, one on the ground and the other on top of the burning building. Looking back the The Fourth Closet, the big reveal is something Mat has covered in his videos before: Charlie is actually a robot, one of four, made by Henry in order to deal with his grief over losing his child. In Pizzeria Simulator (Which I will not be calling FNAF 6 for reasons I will explain in a following theory) it is confirmed that Henry's daughter is the Puppet, who died after she was locked out of the Pizzeria.
We know from Fazbear Frights that animatronics do take the place of actual humans, which, considering that Baby took the place of Charlie in the novels, leads me to think that one of the Vanessa's we is is Baby. But that doesn't explain the sudden change of heart in the three-star ending of Security Breach.
Baby is too eager to please, as we see multiple times in the series. She wanted to be Baby because her father cared about the robots more than her, and even though she was separated from him in PS, she still followed what he said and wanted to make him proud.
But what about the Puppet? As Mat mentioned in his previous video on Security Breach, Baby's eyes aren't glowing. But neither are the Puppet's. The Puppet had pupils - white ones which appeared when they attacked. If the lack of glowing red eyes means that they don't have souls in them, that should apply to the Puppet as well. So where did their soul go? Freddy mentions that "She brought me here" when referring to the underground part of the Pizzeria, which means that she has been there before.
In Fazbear Frights, detective Larson is infected with the agony after being stabbed by the Afton Amalgamation. If souls can be transferred to different bodies through physical contact (Which could provide an explanation for the Faz-Goo) it means that the Puppet could be fighting Afton within Vanessa, and thus making her a protector, who doesn't really protect until the Princess Quest ending, where Gregory completes a group of glitched video games and somehow causing all of the staff bots to fail, along with Vanny disappearing. We assume that Vanessa is the same one as the one in front of the Pizzeria and the one we eat ice-cream with, but what if it isn't?
It doesn't seem feasible for Vanny to remove her costume, get changed into regular clothes and then appear at the front of the Pizzaplex. So what if it's actually the Puppet? Since Henry and William were close, it was likely that their children played together. Elizabeth was always jealous of something or someone, so it makes sense that she was jealous of Charlotte - Henry's daughter. Charlotte is very likely an only child, and as such seen as the only person her father focuses on, and she probably felt jealous as her own father chose to focus on Charlotte as well.
One of the clues Scott gave was "What is seen in the shadows is easily misinterpreted in the mind of a child." If we view this through the context of Baby rather than the Crying Child, we can infer that Elizabeth saw her father's increased focus on Charlotte and take this as a reason to spite her. This could mean that she was one of the children watching through the window in the Security Puppet minigame, and it also helps give a reason for the Mangle doll in FNAF 4 - she was a child throwing a tantrum.
Another piece of evidence to back this up is that in The Fourth Closet, Baby, even though she is Elizabeth Afton, takes the form of Charlie, the novel's version of Charlotte. They're both meant to look like the same person, but there are differences between them.
This could also explain why the screen glitches when you see Vanny but not when you see Vanessa. Freddy, in the burning of the Pizzaplex ending, says that he "can see her now." If she is Baby, then this line makes more sense, along with the context of the illusion discs from the books - if Vanny is a robot using the illusion discs then it makes sense for why Freddy couldn't see her when they first encountered her in front of the fountain, since the books also include a device which can make robots blind to humans who use it.
If Baby used this device to make the rest of the robots blind to her, then she could probably get away with what she did, considering the Security Bots would likely call the animatronics on her as well. The switch which Gregory uses to turn the Security Bots on her might be deactivating this particular device. It could also fit in with the Gregory is a robot theory, considering that the initial purpose of the device was to allow Charlie to communicate with robots, and it would then make sense that Vanny would leave the Pizzaplex to chase after a homeless kid in the ending where you just leave the Pizzaplex - Gregory has something special which William, or Elizabeth, wants. This parallels the story in the novels, where William wants the third version of Charlie to make himself stronger.
This could also help set up Baby as the big bad for upcoming games, like she was in the Stitchwraith story.
I might have more theories down the line, but this is all for now. I can't wait to hear what you guys think of these theories!
